Stewardship work matters most when the learner understands that corrected data does not stop inside CluedIn. Cleaned, merged, tagged, or reclassified records can affect streams, downstream tables, and user trust outside the platform.
What you should get from this module

Guided walkthrough
Use the streaming guide to explain the broad pattern: CluedIn can push selected records to an export target through a stream, and the stream can behave in synchronized or event-log mode. The steward does not need to configure connectors deeply in this module, but they must understand the consequence: when records change in CluedIn, downstream consumers may see those changes.
Now connect the dots:
- a clean project may fix values that are already streamed
- a merge may collapse records and alter downstream entity representation
- a glossary term may become the stream’s filter set
- a hierarchy or relation update can affect outgoing or incoming edge exports
- a tag or rule can change which records become operationally visible
This module is also where handoffs should become sharper. Good handoff notes from a steward to a Data Architect include:
- the domain or glossary term affected
- the saved search or tag used to isolate the issue
- example records
- whether the problem appears before or after processing
- whether downstream streams are likely affected
- the recommended next investigation point: mapping, identifiers, rules, or stream logic
The steward does not have to solve the stream design. They need to understand when stewardship work has become architectural.
Role lens
A mature steward always asks one extra question before closing a quality issue: who else depends on this data, and how will they know it changed? That question prevents local fixes from creating silent downstream surprises.
Practice assignment
Choose one stewardship issue you resolved or simulated. Write a short impact statement covering:
- what changed in CluedIn
- which records or populations were affected
- whether a stream, glossary-driven export, or downstream table might be impacted
- what a Data Architect or platform owner should review next
Then compare your note with the vague version “we fixed some bad data” and keep the better one as a handoff template.
