Investigate with search and filters
On this page
This module teaches a steward how to isolate a problem population instead of browsing the instance manually.
Learning objective
Form a hypothesis, narrow the result set, and gather evidence before making a stewardship decision.
What to learn
- simple vs complex filters;
- AND/OR grouping;
- the difference between broad search and precise filtering;
- why saved searches are a steward productivity tool.

Exercises
- Create one simple filter to isolate a suspicious record set.
- Create one grouped filter using both AND and OR.
- Save the filter configuration as a reusable search.
- Explain why the filter is narrow enough to support stewardship work.
Steward habit to reinforce
Do not jump from “I think there is a problem” to “I will fix records.” First prove the population and understand the pattern.
