Isolate a problem population, save the investigation, and inspect representative records before deciding how to remediate them.

Scenario

A business owner reports that some records in your training domain have a missing or suspicious value. Your first job is to determine the affected population and likely pattern, not to fix it immediately.

Exercise

1. Open Search and scope the correct business domain.
2. Add the columns needed to make the suspected problem visible.
3. Build filters that isolate the affected records.
4. Save the search with a name that describes the business problem.
5. Inspect at least three records and use record details or History to gather evidence.
6. Form a hypothesis: isolated record issue, recurring data pattern, source issue, mapping/processing issue, or identity issue.

Deliverable

A saved search plus an issue-log entry containing the affected population, three examples, your hypothesis, and the next investigation step.

Complete when

• You can reproduce the affected population without browsing manually.
• You can explain why each sampled record belongs to the population.
• You have evidence for the next action rather than only an assumption.
